The
quality of the loch salmon and sea trout fly fishing is unsurpassed.
There are seven freshwater systems, including the fabled lochs
of Voshimid, Scourst, Halladale, Ulladale, Ladies, A’Ghlinne
and Brunabhal. The lochs are fished mainly from boats
with two rods together with a ghillie. When the water is high,
the feeder rivers fish well from the bank. There are five resident
ghillies to look after guests.
The salmon average 5- 8 lbs but increasingly fish are regularly
caught in the 15lb range, the heaviest salmon from an Amhuinnsuidhe
loch being 23lb. Sea trout are also present in the 1lb- 8lb
range, the heaviest recorded 11lbs. Best recent seasons have
produced well over 200 salmon and sea trout from 450-900 depending
on conditions. |
